Today See The Good

So, I went searching for my blog after years of inactivity on it.  Breaking into it was another adventure..
This action was provoked into motion from a friend who posted about her daughter jumping in the rain. an I remembered long ago writing a snippet, here, about that very activity.

Puddle jumping, for the most part,  is a lost pleasure among all but little children.  Too bad.  Adults who still aim their feet to intentionally jump into the heart of a puddle still know how to enjoy the rain.  I live in Pittsburgh and it rains a bunch, so ...................

Enter Covid19 2020.

We have all been either essential and working out in the petri dish, or staying safe at home working while the essential do all they can to keep others safe.

From my small'ish world, my observation has been that the people who have been ordered to hang out at home are looking for activities to do while being at home and not out socializing.  I have noted that my people have  re-discovered the joy of simple things.  Talking, and more importantly, listening to each other.  Learning from our children, taking time to truly enjoy who they are. We have learned to have fun with less, and appreciate what we have.  Our priorities have changed.

I am thankful for refocusing on the good that we have all around us. The air smells cleaner.  The birds are still singing.  The SON is shining through this and we are coming out better.

The good stuff was missed for so long.

His Simplicity

To work I go. Someone has to make those big buckerooos since hubby is out on a peaceful lake, in his canoe, fishing. His "sushi and tea" is fishing alone, in a small canoe, quietly in little nooks and crannies where bigger boats can't access.
Him alone, and the quiet beauty of nature, simply perfect.

simply sushi and tea

In our fast and complex times, I find peace in simplicity.

Today my hubby and I went to a new restaurant in our area. It was an oriental trough, more commonly known as a buffet. He brought home an advertisement for the new hip spot and the pictures alone drew me in. My taste buds were ready.

We loaded up the GPS and headed out on our journey to feast at this new place. The parking lot was jammed full, although it was actually fairly early on a Saturday afternoon.

The joint was bustling with many people of many cultures. I like that. Chopsticks are equally welcome as forks. It is all good.

The choices appeared endless from a distance, but I immediately felt the Japanese station drawing me in. I did not have to wait in the long line at the beginning of the trough. The Japanese station was there, all wide open, with a huge array of SUSHI, welcoming me.

Seaweed wrapped neatly around little roads of rice, topped with tidbits of pure raw food. Simple. Delicate. Common easy ingredients combined into beauty.

Sushi, Wasabi, ginger, along with a little dipping tray of soy

Simple

And hot tea, left on our table to enjoy in small plain white handleless cups, for our enjoyment, sip by sip.

I had an enjoyable time with my hubby today.

I appreciate the simplicity. I think all meals should have little white handleless tea cups for our hands wrap around and to be warmed as we slowly sip.

I wish life was like more like sushi and tea

The Pure Joy of Puddles

Thinking of rain.
I just had an uplifting thought.

Puddle jumping.

Not puddle avoidance
but, going for straight for them with gusto!

One of my favorite things to do, and admittedly, I have not done it in quite awhile, is to walk in the
rain,
with a
HUGE
umbrella,
and hunt for puddles to jump in.
The
bigger the splash
the better.
The wetter I get
the better.
The more lost I get in the
simple
joy of playing in the rain
the better.

I
really
wish it would
rain.
